Andean Condor Birding Experience
Trip summary
This tour combines history, culture, and nature, offering visitors the chance to connect with one of the most admired symbols of the Andes — the Andean Condor. Ancient Peruvians deeply respected and revered this majestic bird, and during this experience, travelers will have the opportunity to observe it in its natural habitat. The journey begins early in the morning from Cusco, traveling by car to the town of Chonta. From there, participants will hike for about an hour along the mountain trail (or ride on horseback if preferred) to reach the viewpoint, where condors can often be seen gliding gracefully through the canyon or resting on the cliffs.
Throughout the route, guests can also enjoy birdwatching and record sightings of resident and migratory species such as the Hooded Siskin, Cinnamon Flycatcher, Apurimac Brushfinch, Creamy-crested Spinetail, Variable Hawk, and many others. The tour concludes with the return to Cusco in the afternoon.
