Birding Soraypampa Valley Full Day

To start the day observing birds and listening to the melodious sounds of birds is to have quality of life, and even better if we make it in Mollepata valley, where we could see many species of birds that are residents and endemics of Peru.

This small valley has a record of one hundred and one species of birds made it in half a day by four teams of expert bird guides, and it will be a challenge for us to see how many we can record in one day.

The species recorded are: Apurimac Spinetail, Apurimac Brushfinch, Vilcabamba Tapaculo, White-tufted Sunbean, Creamy-crested Spinetail (all of them are endemics), Red-crested Cotinga, cinnamon Flycarcher, White-bellied Hummingbird, Mountain Velvetbreast, Sierran Elaenia, White-rumped Hawk (rare), Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle, Mountain Caracara, etc.

At bottom of the mountain is a dry and semi-deciduous valley, and is inhabited by specialist birds of   this type of forest such as: White-eared puffbird, Creamy-breasted Canastero in its variety of Pale-tailed Canastero (huancavelicae), White-tiped Dove, Andean Swift, etc. We also we find species that share both habitats such as: Rufous-collared Sparrow, American kestrel, White-collared Swift, Sparkling Violetear, etc.

At the end of the day, we will return to our Hotel in Cusco.
